Waikiki
Optimal Levels: 8 to 10
Waikiki can be found at higher levels just above the two lunch sites after the Lorne rapid, below Garburator. Usually
when we run the Lorne rapid, we stay right and follow a small chute
down the river right side in order to avoid the Buseater ledge which
spreads across the rest of the river.
At the base of this chute, is where Waikiki when the levels rise. This wave is fast, crazy, and tight. It can be described as being as fast as Garburator, but harder to control. The wave train below Waikiki is extremely swirly, and catching the eddy can prove difficult. The eddy lines are strong and powerful. Sometimes people have to walk back up from the Wilderness Tours lunch site, but it’s worth every step!
